So, here I am
announcing a page in which I talk about the "effect" that my mentioning of a
band has towards their longevity. It's been rather stunning so far, but
we'll continue to track things as they progress. Keep in mind that these
are only the bands who have suffered misfortune as a result of my promotion.
Here we go:
Five Pointe O: Lost
singer Daniel Struble and guitar player Sharon Grzelinski. Went on to form
the sub-par The Renaissance and The Burning Down. Five Pointe O has since
disbanded.
Norma Jean: Lost
singer Josh Scogin and bassist Joshua Doolittle. Scogin went on to form
The Chariot, but neither band has really been the same.
The Postman Syndrome:
Lost guitarist/singer Matt Lupo. Went on to form the awful Day Without
Dawn (with a guest appearance by Lupo, nonetheless), an abhorration of the
former band. The Postman Syndrome has since disbanded.
Underoath: Lost
singer Dallas Taylor and promptly went downhill. Oddly, Taylor left to
focus on his "family life" but quickly formed Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
Do As Infinity:
Lost singer/idol Van Tomiko, who went on to perform a very unspectacular solo
album. DAI has since disbanded.
The Devin Townsend Band:
Really to no one's surprise, The Dev finally said "The hell with it" and gave up
writing commercial music. He's still producing albums, but probably won't
perform on anything for a long time now.
Nightrage: Lost
singer Tomas Lindberg (At the Gates) and drummer Per Jensen (The Haunted) after
the recording of their debut album. Their next two albums didn't do so
well.
Saosin: Lost singer
Anthony Green, drummer Pat McGrath and bassist Zach Kennedy. As they have
lost their rhythm section and their singer, their heart has been forever
removed.
Nightwish: Fired
their super-hot singer Tarja Turunen after she started hinting that she wanted
to pursue a solo career.
Adema: Six
months after recording the excellent Planets, singer Luke Caraccioli left
the band for no apparent reason.
Vio System Divide:
In spite of continued contact with the band from me, their new album has been
pushed back for at least a year due to scheduling conflicts and a complete
rewrite of the material.
Bleed The Sky:
Had most of their gear stolen while on tour and then, to add insult to injury,
guitarist Wayne Miller nearly died from a spinal infection.
The Agony Scene:
Lost drummer Brent Masters, who, in my opinion, backboned The Darkest Red.
